Here at NovoAbrasive Plant, we pay close attention to the quality of our products — abrasive cut-off and grinding wheels for metals and stone.

The production process involves highly qualified specialists, manufacturing engineers with years of experience utilizing state-of-the-art technologies and producing wheels of proper quality.

The Italian production technology and strict quality control are the key factors thanks to which our abrasive cut-off and grinding wheels meet the existing national and international quality standards EN 12413 and MPA Hannover.

Technical specifications of each batch of products are checked on specially designed multifunctional inspection benches. The multilevel quality control system consists of six consecutive stages.

Six-stage quality control helps to reject defective products and ensures consistent performance specifications of the products. Our abrasive wheels assure cutting of such an accuracy which is necessary for professional use.

NovoAbrasive approaches the production of abrasive wheels and other similar products with maximum responsibility and attention.

Quality Control

Regardless of the batch all products are tested for quality assurance at each stage of production. The following parameters are taken into account
  • Quality of raw materials
  • Required ratio of raw materials in the mixture for preparation of wheel compound
  • Weight, width, diameter of newly manufactured products
  • Durability and wear resistance at high speeds
  • Performance (test cutting)
  • Operation safety

Incoming Material Control
When manufacturing our products we use raw materials from Austria and Germany considered to be the best in the world.

All supplied materials go through detailed inspection at the production facilities:
  1. Initial parameters of phenol formaldehyde resins are determined and adjusted if necessary.
  2. Fractional analysis and then chemical analysis of raw material components are carried out to set appropriate processing options.

Compound Preparation Control
The wheel base is formed for further processing and manufacture of grinding and cut-off wheels at this stage of production. The appropriate wheel base is crucial for obtaining required characteristics of the finished product.

To produce high-quality abrasive wheels, NovoAbrasive’s specialists consider and use the humidity parameters, accurately weigh the required amount of components for the compound.

Product composition may vary depending on the application and materials the grinding wheel is intended for. Modified electrocorundum used for different types of abrasive wheels contains different amounts of aluminium oxide which define the product characteristics.

Next, the compound flows to pressing machines and is injected into special molds.

Product Parameters Check
After the prepared compound has been pressed in molds, it is important to check the product dimensions. The following parameters are measured:
  • Weight;
  • Thickness;
  • Diameter;Balance (balancing of wheels while in operation).

The final product integrity is also checked at this stage. If a chip, crack or any other defect occurs during production, the product will be rejected. Thus, manufacturing defects are excluded.

Tensile Strength Test
When all required parameters have been checked and products have undergone heat treatment (bakelization), it is important to check the level of their safety while using in household and industrial conditions.

The test speed depends on the size and purpose of the abrasive wheel.

Side Load Safety Tests
Wheel safety is tested on a special test bench in accordance with the International standard.

Test Cutting
At the final stage of quality control we perform the test cutting with products from each manufactured batch. Thus, Novoabrasive guarantees that wear resistance and durability of our products compare to products of the leading European manufacturers.
